Framework has established a reputation for routine product updates, and today’s announcements follow that pattern. The headline feature is an updated motherboard equipped with Intel’s Core Ultra Series 3 processors, available as a standalone upgrade for the existing Framework Laptop 13 or as part of the new Framework Laptop 13 Pro.

The company is also rolling out updated screens, keyboards, and other components—most of which are compatible with Framework’s existing laptops. These updates primarily address common complaints and missing features in prior models.

In a notable shift, Framework is placing greater emphasis on its support for Linux. The company’s teaser site for today’s announcements featured the tagline, “follow the white penguin,” a playful nod to The Matrix (1999) and Linux’s mascot. While Framework has long officially supported various Linux distributions on its systems, the Laptop 13 Pro will be the first pre-built model to ship with Linux pre-installed from the factory.

Additionally, the system is Framework’s first to receive Ubuntu Certification.
