Nearly two years have passed since From last aired, and the supernatural town’s mysteries have only deepened. As Season 4 approaches, here’s a concise recap of Season 3’s pivotal events and revelations to refresh your memory.
Fatima’s Pregnancy and the Night People’s Secret
Fatima gave birth to Smiley, a child whose existence grants the night people in the town an unkillable state—a power they obtained by sacrificing their own children. These sacrificed children now appear as ghostly figures in the forest. The more the townsfolk learn, the more their lives are endangered, as knowledge in the town always comes at a cost.
Elgin’s Manipulation by the Town
The supernatural forces of the town coerced Elgin into kidnapping Fatima. Convinced by the Kimono Woman that Smiley would save everyone, Elgin held Fatima captive in a cave, claiming the Kimono Woman would protect her. When Boyd and his team demanded Fatima’s location, Elgin refused—until Boyd and Sara, who had been manipulated by the town before, tortured him. After severe physical abuse, including the removal of one of his eyes by Sara, Elgin finally revealed Fatima’s whereabouts.
Tabitha Discovers Victor’s Family History
After being pushed out of the lighthouse by the Boy in White, Tabitha returned to the real world and eventually found Victor’s father, Henry. During her visit, she learned that Victor’s mother, Miranda, was a visionary with extensive knowledge of the town. Miranda had deliberately attempted to locate and rescue the town’s ghoulish children, even visiting the town before the night people inhabited it.
The Children in White and Tabitha’s Reincarnation
With Jim’s help, Jade deciphered a 12-number code tied to Miranda’s violin playing. Tabitha and Jade traveled to a faraway bottle tree, where Miranda was previously killed by Smiley, and played the melody. The children in white emerged from the forest, stepping closer as Jade played. One child uttered the word “anghkhooey” to Tabitha, which she realized meant “remember.” This revelation led Tabitha to recall her past lives in the town.
Viewers learned that Tabitha and Jade are reincarnations of Miranda and Christopher (the man who communicated with a ventriloquist doll). Their spirits have repeatedly returned to the town over time, each time failing to break its curse.
