Motorcycle racer and television personality Guy Martin has been handed a six-month driving ban in the United Kingdom after being caught twice by speed cameras.

Martin was first caught traveling at 46 mph in a 40 mph zone. He was then caught again driving at 78 mph on a road where the speed limit had been temporarily reduced to 50 mph due to construction work.

Martin is widely recognized for hosting the TV show Speed with Guy Martin, where he attempted to break multiple speed records across different vehicles and environments. His record-breaking attempts took him to the U.S. on three occasions.

In 2014, Martin won the Exhibition Motorcycle class at Pikes Peak on a turbocharged Suzuki GSX-R1100. In 2016, he participated in the Nevada Open Road Challenge in a modified Ford Transit Van. Later that year, he piloted Triumph’s Rocket Streamliner at Bonneville in an attempt to break the motorcycle land speed record. Although he crashed and did not set an outright record, Martin achieved a top speed of 274.2 mph, becoming the world’s fastest Triumph rider.

Over his 25-year career as a racer, Martin’s best finish was second place at the Isle of Man TT. He also secured four victories at the Ulster Grand Prix and five wins at the North West 200. Beyond racing, Martin has become a popular daredevil on television, and his YouTube channel has amassed over 400,000 subscribers. His enthusiasm for engineering and motorsports continues to captivate audiences, even if his thick Grimsby accent occasionally proves challenging for some viewers.

Martin was riding a Honda Africa Twin when he was caught by the speed cameras. As a result of the violations, he will be unable to drive or ride on British roads for six months.
