As you embark on your endless road trip in Outbound, you’ll frequently stop to collect essential resources for your journey. Since your backpack has limited space, you must master the process of depositing materials into your vehicle. This side task is introduced early in the game and is one of the most important mechanics to learn.

How to Deposit Materials from Your Backpack into Your Vehicle in Outbound

To transfer items from your backpack to your vehicle, follow these steps:

  1. Progress through the tutorial. The storage mission becomes available after completing the opening tutorial. If you haven’t received this side task yet, continue playing until it appears.
  2. Ensure you have at least one item in your backpack. You must have at least one item to deposit for the mission to trigger.
  3. Locate the storage panel. The storage panel is positioned on the driver’s side, to the right of the back tire. It blends seamlessly with the vehicle’s design, making it easy to overlook.
  4. Interact with the panel. Approach the storage panel and look for the “Deposit materials” prompt. The required button to press will be displayed next to this message, and it varies by platform (e.g., keyboard, controller).
  5. Deposit your items. Press the indicated button to store your items in the vehicle, freeing up backpack space and completing the side mission.

How to Access and Use Stored Materials in Outbound

Once your items are stored in your vehicle, you’ll need to know how to retrieve them when needed. The storage panel does not allow you to access stored items directly. Instead, you must use the vehicle’s storage system to manage your goods efficiently.
