Vegas Bachelorette Night Takes a Dramatic Turn
In Episode 5 of “Margo’s Got Money Troubles,” the upcoming wedding of Michelle Pfeiffer’s Shyanne and Greg Kinnear’s Kenny brings the entire family to Las Vegas. What starts as a bachelorette celebration quickly spirals into a night of emotional revelations and family drama.
Shyanne enlists both Margo (Elle Fanning) and Jinx (Nick Offerman) for her “real deal bachelorette party,” leading the trio to the Bottom Dollar bar. With baby Bodhi tucked into Margo’s jacket, the night takes an unexpected turn as Shyanne and Jinx confront their past.
Shyanne’s Lingering Feelings for Jinx
Shyanne and Jinx’s history resurfaces during their time at the bar, reigniting old flames and unresolved emotions. Michelle Pfeiffer shared insights into Shyanne’s complicated relationship with Jinx, revealing the depth of her feelings:
“They had a really hot romance, and they were just chemically drawn to each other, as some people are, [and] have a child together. I think she was madly in love with him, and that’s one of the reasons probably why Shyanne decided to keep the child — there was a fantasy that she had that he would eventually come around … that never happened or not in the way that she needed him or wanted him.”
Pfeiffer added that Shyanne’s frustration stems from feeling unappreciated in her role as the family’s backbone:
“He’s the hero … and meanwhile, I’m the one who’s holding things together and I’m the one you resent. I think a lot of women in general feel that when it comes to raising children with their partners.”
Margo’s Unexpected Support for Her Parents’ Reunion
Elle Fanning, who plays Margo, noted that her character sees the rekindling of Shyanne and Jinx’s relationship with a mix of hope and detachment:
“Margo sees all” and in fact, somewhat welcomes it, saying “deep down in her or … maybe it’s more on the surface than we think, but I think she would love for her parents to get back together.”
Fanning emphasized the emotional weight of the moment, highlighting the show’s themes of second chances:
“There is something between them — there are sparks, there’s a lot of history. Gosh, I feel for Shyanne in those moments, because I think this show also is a lot about people’s second chances in life and getting a second chance, and Shyanne feels that being with Kenny is kind of her second chance at doing something and doing something better … or making more of herself or marrying this kind of stereotypical good guy.”
Fanning also praised Greg Kinnear for bringing depth to Kenny’s character, making him more sympathetic despite his clichéd role:
“He could easily be written off as a cliche of that type of character.”
However, Fanning acknowledged the challenges Shyanne faces in balancing her intense personality with Kenny’s expectations:
“Shyanne is a lot. I don’t know if Kenny can … contain all of Shyanne, but he’s trying.”
The Night Comes to a Head
The reunion is cut short when the bartender notices Bodhi peeking out of Margo’s jacket. Jinx takes the baby back to the hotel while Shyanne and Margo continue their night, leaving their complicated emotions unresolved.
