Former FBI Director James Comey, a prominent critic of former President Donald Trump, has been indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice for a second time, according to multiple news outlets.
The indictment, reported by Fox News and The New York Times, centers on a 2020 social media post by Comey. The post featured seashells arranged to display the number 8647. Some Republicans at the time interpreted the arrangement as a coded threat against Trump.
This is the second time the Justice Department has pursued charges against Comey. Last year, the DOJ attempted to indict him for lying to Congress in 2020, but that prosecution ultimately collapsed.
