Vice President JD Vance delivered a speech on Tuesday at a manufacturing facility in Iowa, but his performance left much to be desired. While attempting to endorse Zach Nunn, a Republican candidate running for reelection to the House, Vance stumbled over his words and appeared visibly flustered.
“When I see that—when I see Iowa farmers who need to get that E-15 to market, what is, uh, this, what is, uh … Zach, you’re gonna have to help me out with her name here. I lost my page here. Alright. OK, there we go!” Vance said during the event.
The crowd’s reaction was notably underwhelming. Video footage showed attendees behind Vance half-heartedly holding up signs and glancing around, with little to no enthusiasm for his speech. This incident follows Vance’s past struggles with public speaking, including a 2024 campaign event where he boasted about not needing notes.
“Ma’am, I don’t need a teleprompter, I’ve actually got thoughts in my head, unlike Kamala Harris,” Vance told a crowd in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 2024. However, his confidence was short-lived as he later confused Abbey Gate—the site of a deadly 2021 suicide bombing—with Abbey Road, the famous Beatles recording studio in London.
