Jimmy Kimmel criticized Tucker Carlson’s apology for helping elect Donald Trump, calling the conservative commentator “still plenty nuts.”
During Tuesday night’s monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the late-night host addressed Carlson’s viral apology, delivered Monday on his The Tucker Carlson Show podcast.
“I mentioned last night Trump has fallen out with many of his most loyal maggots, including Tucker Carlson, who went so far as to apologize for ever supporting him in the first place,”
Kimmel then played footage of Carlson’s apology, where the former Fox News host said he and his brother, Buckley—who wrote speeches for Trump—were “the reason this is happening right now.”
Carlson also admitted he would be “tormented” for his role in Trump’s election “for a long time.”
“That’s big. I mean, Tucker Carlson apologizing for helping Trump get elected. I believe they call that liar’s remorse.”
Kimmel dismissed Carlson’s apology as insincere, joking that the podcaster “also admitted he is in a same-sex relationship with a green M&M,” referencing Carlson’s past outrage over the candy’s mascot being “de-sexualized.”
“All the kooks are breaking ranks,”
Kimmel continued, listing other conservatives who have distanced themselves from Trump, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Alex Jones, Megyn Kelly, and Candace Owens. “And that was his brother, Buckley. Did anyone know Tucker had a brother, Buckley?”
The comedian mocked Carlson’s family name, quipping:
“The names Tucker and Buckley are as white as it gets. Their parents wear an ascot and a monocle.”
Kimmel also targeted Carlson’s recent criticism of doctors, where the former Fox host called them “the worst people in America.”
“But lest you think Tucker is a completely changed man, don’t worry, he’s still plenty nuts. Thanksgiving at the Carlsons’ must be a barrel of laughs.”
Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET on ABC.
