Microsoft has introduced a consistent Xbox user interface (UI) designed to work seamlessly across handheld devices, consoles, and cloud gaming platforms. The announcement was made during the Xbox keynote at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March 2024.
Initially, the UI’s new features were unclear from the event’s videos and photos. However, Microsoft has since released a new video offering a closer look at the interface, addressing concerns about its design and functionality.
Jason Ronald, Vice President of Next Generation at Xbox, demonstrated the UI and acknowledged player feedback about fragmentation and inconsistency across devices. He stated:
"What the team has been doing …"
The unified UI aims to resolve these issues by providing a cohesive experience regardless of the platform. Microsoft’s move reflects its commitment to improving user experience in the Xbox ecosystem.
