The New York Mets continue to disappoint fans, extending their struggles with an 11-game losing streak that has pushed them to a 7-15 record and dead last in the National League.

Last year’s playoff miss set the tone for this season’s underwhelming performance, and recent losses—including a sweep by the Oakland Athletics followed by another by the Los Angeles Dodgers—have only deepened the frustration.

On Sunday at Wrigley Field, the Mets nearly escaped unscathed. Holding a 1-0 lead into the bottom of the ninth, they turned to newly acquired reliever Devin Williams to close the game. Instead, Williams faltered, allowing a base hit and an RBI double by former Met Michael Conforto, tying the score.

The Mets’ bullpen unraveled further in the 10th inning. After the lower half of their order failed to advance the runner on second, another new reliever, Craig Kimbrel, surrendered the go-ahead run on a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly, sealing the Cubs’ victory.
