Oprah Winfrey’s podcast is set to join Amazon’s lineup in a major multiyear deal. Harpo Entertainment, Winfrey’s production company, has struck an agreement with Amazon-owned Wondery, granting exclusive distribution and advertising rights to “The Oprah Podcast.”

The deal was announced on Monday, with Winfrey’s podcast expanding to two new episodes per week beginning this summer. Under the agreement, Wondery will distribute the show’s audio and video content across Amazon platforms, including Prime Video, Amazon Music, Fire TV Channels, and Audible.

In addition to the podcast, Amazon has secured rights to Winfrey’s extensive library, including:

  • “The Oprah Winfrey Show” (1986–2011)
  • Her book club franchise
  • The “Favorite Things” series

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. This deal follows Winfrey’s past partnerships with Apple and Starbucks.

Potential Industry Impact

The agreement may draw criticism from independent booksellers, who view Amazon as a primary competitor. The American Booksellers Association did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday.

A spokesperson for Harpo Entertainment shared a statement with The Associated Press, affirming that “Oprah’s Book Club” will continue to support books “wherever they are sold.”

Expanding Amazon’s Celebrity Podcast Lineup

Winfrey’s podcast joins a growing roster of celebrity-led shows on Amazon. In 2024, Wondery secured an exclusive distribution and advertising deal for “New Heights”, a podcast hosted by Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his brother, former Eagles center Jason Kelce.

Winfrey’s Vision for the Podcast

Winfrey launched “The Oprah Podcast” in December 2024. In a prepared statement, she expressed her commitment to the show, saying:

“Hosting the show allows me to continue the work I feel called to do – opening the door for conversations that matter.”

She added that expanding its reach “is an opportunity I embrace.”

Wondery will begin distributing “The Oprah Podcast” across Amazon services in July, though the show will remain available on platforms like YouTube.
