The Green Bay Packers enter the NFL Draft without a first-round selection on Thursday night, but General Manager Brian Gutekunst has already signaled their intentions for the following two days. Cornerback remains a priority, a need that became evident late in the 2023 season.
To address the shortage, Gutekunst claimed Trevon Diggs off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys in December. However, Diggs was released in January after appearing in just two games for the Packers. The team later signed Benjamin St-Juste in March, joining existing cornerbacks Keisan Nixon and Carrington Valentine.
Despite these moves, Gutekunst emphasized the need for additional depth at the position as training camp approaches. Speaking via the team’s official website, he stated:
"Some of our young guys, I'm interested to see with our new coaching staff how they adapt to what we're going to ask them to do. But we do need to add some numbers there."
The Packers’ highest remaining draft pick is No. 52 overall, with seven additional selections available to address cornerback and other roster needs before the draft concludes.
