Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks is making steady progress toward a full return to the field after enduring multiple ACL injuries. The team drafted Brooks in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft following a right ACL tear during his final season at Texas. He made his NFL debut midway through his rookie season but suffered a second ACL tear in his third game, forcing him to miss the entirety of the 2024 season while recovering.

Now, Brooks has provided an encouraging update on his rehabilitation. Speaking at a Tuesday press conference, he revealed that he has been cleared by his surgeon and is approaching full strength.

"Feels good getting back to the football movements. Obviously it's something I have to work on. Feel close to 100 percent, getting there. Still just going with the plan they have for me."

Brooks' recovery timeline has been closely watched, especially as the Panthers prepare for the 2025 season. His return could significantly impact the team's backfield, which already includes Chuba Hubbard and Trevor Etienne from last season, as well as newly signed free agent AJ Dillon.

How Brooks integrates into this competitive backfield will be a key storyline as the Panthers' offseason progresses. His ability to regain full form will be critical for the team's offensive plans in the coming season.
