Paramount Pictures has officially set Osgood Perkins’ next ‘Longlegs’ film for release on January 14, 2028.

Perkins will return as the film’s writer, director, and producer, while Nicolas Cage will once again star as the Satanic serial killer known as Longlegs. Cage will also serve as a producer on the project. Joining them in producing roles are Brian Kavanaugh Jones, Chris Ferguson, and Dave Caplan.

No plot details have been released for the new film, and Paramount has not classified it as a sequel or spin-off to the 2024 original. The first ‘Longlegs’ film, distributed by Neon, became a breakout indie horror hit, grossing nearly $128 million worldwide.

The 2024 film starred Maika Monroe as an FBI agent tasked with hunting down Longlegs, played by Cage. The marketing campaign for the original film was notably cryptic, hiding Cage’s appearance and instead playing the sound of a heart rate monitor during scenes where Monroe filmed opposite him, unaware of his presence.

Paramount’s 2028 Film Slate Expands

The new ‘Longlegs’ project arrives as Paramount’s newly formed film division, led by Josh Greenstein and Dana Goldberg, continues to expand its 2028 release schedule. Over the past month, the studio has added multiple high-profile titles to its lineup:

  • A sequel to the slasher romcom ‘Heart Eyes’, set for release in February 2028.
  • An adaptation of the hit video game series ‘Call of Duty’, directed by Peter Berg and written by Taylor Sheridan, scheduled for March 2028.
  • Releases from the ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ and ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ franchises are also planned for late 2028.
