Paul Anthony Kelly, the breakout star of Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, will join the cast of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story for its 13th season.
The 37-year-old actor, who made his television debut in the FX series, confirmed his role during Disney’s upfront presentation on Tuesday. Kelly shared his excitement, stating:
“I guess every nightmare needs fresh blood … and thirteen’s my lucky number.”
Kelly joined fan favorites Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Billie Lourd, and Emma Roberts onstage to announce the news. Roberts, who will also star in Season 13, is a returning cast member from earlier seasons.
Kelly is represented by Innovative Artists and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
Returning Cast and New Faces
Season 13 will feature several returning cast members reprising their roles, including Jessica Lange, who will appear for the first time since Apocalypse. The season also marks the debut of pop star Ariana Grande in the American Horror Story universe.
The new season is set to premiere on Halloween this fall. This marks the franchise’s return after a two-year gap, following the April 2024 airing of the previous season, which starred Kim Kardashian.
Plot Hints and Teasers
Little is known about the plot of Season 13, but the first teaser concluded with a line from Roberts’ character, Madison Montgomery, in American Horror Story Season 3:
“Surprise, b-tch. I bet you thought you’d seen the last of me.”
Given that many returning cast members are from the Coven-themed season, it is speculated that the new season may draw from similar themes.
