The New Orleans Saints are not planning to make a significant move up the 2025 NFL Draft board, according to General Manager Mickey Loomis. The team is currently slated to select eighth overall after finishing the 2025 season with a 6-11 record.

While the record would have been worse without a late surge—four wins in the final five games—Loomis downplayed expectations of a major roster overhaul. "When you have a Drew Brees—when you have that caliber of quarterback—you always feel like you're one player away," he said. "And so, 'Man, let's go get the one player.' And when you have a young quarterback and you're developing your roster, you're not one player away."

Loomis stressed that the Saints are not in a position where a single player could vault them into contention. "We're not one player away. That's a five-game stretch or a six-game stretch. I don't want to read too much into that. We're excited, we're optimistic about our future, but by no means have we arrived anywhere."

Quarterback Tyler Shough played a key role in the Saints' late-season wins, and the team hopes his performance signals a turning point. However, Loomis indicated that more evidence is required before considering a high-stakes trade for a single player.
