President Donald Trump sparked controversy this week after calling the White House a "s--t house" during a press interaction on Monday. The remarks came while he hosted law enforcement officials at the executive mansion.

Trump claimed the building had been poorly maintained prior to his presidency and referred to it as a "s--t house"—though he noted his wife discouraged him from using profanity. Seth Meyers, host of Late Night with Seth Meyers, responded with sharp criticism during his Tuesday segment, A Closer Look.

Meyers took issue with Trump’s phrasing, arguing that the common insult is "s--t hole," not "s--t house."

"Stop inventing new word phrases for things you under-babies,"

Meyers quipped, referencing a separate comment made earlier that day by former Senate candidate Mehmet Oz. Oz had told reporters that American families are "under-babied," meaning they have fewer children than desired or none at all.

Meyers then pivoted to Trump’s complaints about the White House, a taxpayer-funded property with 132 rooms.

"Also, I’m so sorry your giant free house is such a bummer. How out of touch can you be? 77% of Americans say the cost of living is getting worse—this guy’s complaining about his 132-room mansion. He’s like a Hollywood diva who doesn’t like her trailer. ‘There’s no espresso machine in here. This place is a s--t house!’"
