New York Giants offensive lineman Shane Lemieux has announced his retirement from the NFL. Lemieux made the announcement in a post on his LinkedIn account on May 15, 2025.

In his retirement statement, Lemieux reflected on his NFL journey, which began when the Giants selected him in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He wrote that he had dreamed of playing at least a decade in the league, but his career was cut short by persistent injuries. Lemieux stated,

"Five surgeries and more time in the training room than on the field" led to my decision to walk away from the game.

Lemieux’s rookie season in 2020 was his most productive, as he played in 12 games and made nine starts at guard for the Giants. However, his playing time declined sharply in subsequent seasons. Over his final three years with the NFC East club, he appeared in just six games.

Injuries played a significant role in his limited playing time. Lemieux battled issues including knee, toe, and biceps injuries, which repeatedly sidelined him. His final season with the Giants concluded in 2023.

In 2024, Lemieux transitioned to the New Orleans Saints, where he played in seven games and made four starts. He spent the 2025 season on the Seattle Seahawks’ practice squad before announcing his retirement.
