Sony to Enforce Age Verification for PlayStation Users in the UK and Ireland
Sony is implementing new age verification policies for PlayStation users in the UK and Ireland. While not a blanket requirement, users will need to confirm their age to access communication, broadcasting, and certain in-game features starting in June 2026.
This includes essential online and social gaming functions such as:
- Joining a party
- Voice chatting
- Text messaging
- Using third-party chat programs like Discord
- Accessing in-game communication tools, chats, or sharing user-generated content
Although enforcement begins in summer 2026, users are already being encouraged to complete the verification process in advance.
