University of Tennessee cornerback Colton Hood and Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald spent three hours watching 32 draft picks pass without their names being called.
Fifteen other prospects who attended the draft in Pittsburgh departed on Thursday night after learning where they would play next in the NFL.
McDonald chose to return for the second and third rounds on Friday night, but Hood will not be back in the green room, a source told ProFootballTalk.
Players not selected in the first round have the option to stay or leave, and Hood’s decision to depart reflects the disappointment of not hearing his name in Round 1.
The following players were selected in the first round and attended the draft:
- David Bailey (New York Jets)
- Jeremiyah Love (Arizona Cardinals)
- Carnell Tate (Tennessee Titans)
- Arvell Reese (New York Giants)
- Mansoor Delane (Kansas City Chiefs)
- Sonny Styles (Washington Commanders)
- Jordyn Tyson (New Orleans Saints)
- Francis Mauioga (New York Giants)
- Caleb Downs (Dallas Cowboys)
