On December 23, 1972, the Pittsburgh Steelers secured their first-ever playoff victory with a legendary play now known as the Immaculate Reception. Nearly 52 years later, former quarterback Terry Bradshaw held the very football he threw that day for the first time since the iconic moment.

Bradshaw was handed the ball during a draft event at the Nemacolin resort, located approximately 70 miles from Pittsburgh. After inspecting it, he remarked,

“It’s a little deflated. Must have been up in New England.”

The historic ball was originally used for the extra point after Franco Harris caught Bradshaw’s pass and scored the winning touchdown. Decades later, the ball ended up in the possession of a fan named Jim Baker.

Bradshaw’s reunion with the Immaculate Reception ball has sparked discussions about its next destination—specifically, placement alongside the Franco statue at Pittsburgh International Airport.
