Tesla Reports Strong Q1 2026 Financials Amid Delivery Decline

Tesla delivered mixed results in the first quarter of 2026, with revenue and profit rising despite a decline in vehicle deliveries. The company reported $22.38 billion in revenue for Q1 2026, a 16% increase from $19.3 billion in Q1 2025. Gross profit reached $4.72 billion, up from $3.15 billion in the same period last year, though still below the $5.05 billion recorded in Q3 2025 and $5.00 billion in Q4 2025.

Tesla’s automotive business revenue grew from $13.96 billion to $16.2 billion, while the company posted positive free cash flow of $1.44 billion.

Vehicle Deliveries Decline 6% Quarter-Over-Quarter

Tesla delivered 358,023 vehicles in Q1 2026, a 6% increase compared to Q1 2025 but a decline from the 380,000+ vehicles delivered in Q4 2025. Despite the drop in volume, revenue growth was supported by higher average vehicle prices and expansion in Tesla’s services business.

Full Self-Driving Subscriptions Surpass 1.28 Million

Tesla now has 1.28 million Full Self-Driving (FSD) subscriptions, a figure that includes both upfront purchases and monthly subscribers. The company also noted that profits were boosted by an unspecified “increase in automotive one-time benefits related to warranty and tariffs.”

“The total actually represents 1.28 million FSD users, combining those who paid upfront for the system with those on monthly subscriptions.”

During the earnings call, CFO Vaibhav Taneja clarified that Tesla has not received any benefits tied to the Supreme Court’s recent decision striking down parts of President Donald Trump’s tariff program, a ruling that has prompted other companies to seek refunds.

Tesla’s Shift Toward AI and Robotics

Tesla is transitioning from its core electric vehicle (EV) business into a company focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. As part of this strategic shift, Tesla has begun construction of a new plant near its Texas Gigafactory to produce the Optimus humanoid robot.

The company confirmed that volume production of the Cybercab and Semi will begin this year, with both vehicles currently in the pilot production phase.

Second-Generation Roadster Remains in Development

Tesla’s Q1 2026 financial report included only a brief mention of the long-awaited second-generation Roadster, stating that it remains in “design development.”
