Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure Headed to Switch 2 and PS5 in 2026
Nihon Falcom and NIS America have officially announced that The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure will be available on the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 in 2026. The announcement confirms the games will join the Crossbell arc of The Legend of Heroes series on these platforms.
Enhanced Features and Performance
The Switch 2 and PS5 versions of both games will feature improved graphics and performance. Additionally, the Switch 2 release will include Joy-Con 2 mouse support, enhancing gameplay accessibility. While the developers did not confirm whether the games will launch simultaneously or in a staggered release, the announcement of a physical bundle suggests a potential simultaneous launch.
Crossbell Arc Overview
Both games are set in the city-state of Crossbell and follow Special Support Section officer Lloyd Bannings and his team, which includes Elie MacDowell, Tio Plato, and Randy Orlando. The first game, Trails from Zero, introduces a larger conspiracy involving the team. The second game, Trails to Azure, expands on revelations from the first, introducing new characters Wazy Hemisphere and Noel Seeker as they work to protect Crossbell and its citizens.
The timeline of the Crossbell arc is closely tied to the Trails of Cold Steel series. Trails from Zero takes place around the same time as Trails of Cold Steel, while Trails to Azure spans the events of both Trails of Cold Steel and Trails of Cold Steel II.
Trailers and Existing Platforms
Two trailers have been released to accompany the announcements of Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure:
- Trails from Zero Trailer: Offers a first look at the initial game in the duology.
- Trails to Azure Trailer: Provides a preview of the second game in the series.
The games are already available on Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC worldwide. In Japan, they are also playable on PSP and Vita.

The upcoming Switch 2 and PS5 releases will bring the Crossbell arc to modern platforms with enhanced visuals and performance. Fans of The Legend of Heroes series can look forward to experiencing Lloyd Bannings and his team's adventures with improved gameplay mechanics and accessibility features.
