Chevrolet Launches S10 Trail Boss and Trailblazer Midnight Editions in Brazil
General Motors’ Chevrolet division has introduced two new special editions for the Brazilian market: the S10 Trail Boss and Trailblazer Midnight. These models combine rugged styling with enhanced off-road capabilities, while retaining the proven Duramax turbodiesel powertrain and 8-speed automatic transmission.
Enhanced Suspension and Styling for Off-Road Performance
The S10 Trail Boss and Trailblazer Midnight feature reworked suspensions developed in partnership with Ironman 4×4. The pickup truck receives a 1.2-inch (30 mm) front lift, while the SUV gains 0.7 inches (18 mm) at the front and 1.2 inches (30 mm) at the rear. Both models are equipped with Scorpion All-Terrain tires for improved grip on rough terrain.
Visually, the special editions boast a gloss black front grille, matching mirror caps, and 18-inch alloy wheels. The S10 Trail Boss includes a decal set, a roll bar, and a bed liner, though it omits the more aggressive hardware found in the Brutal and Invincible Packages offered on the facelifted S10 range.
Premium Interior Features and High-Spec Equipment
Both the S10 Trail Boss and Trailblazer Midnight are based on the high-spec High Country grades, offering a host of premium features. Standard equipment includes an 11-inch infotainment system, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, and premium leather upholstery. The Trailblazer Midnight is available as a three-row seven-seater.
Duramax Turbodiesel Powertrain Remains Unchanged
Unlike the US-spec Colorado, which uses a gasoline engine, the Brazilian models retain the robust 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel. This engine delivers 207 hp (154 kW / 210 PS) and 376 lb-ft (510 Nm) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission, ensuring strong performance both on and off the road.
Pricing and Market Positioning
Chevrolet has not yet announced official pricing for the Trail Boss or Midnight editions. However, both models are expected to sit at the top of the Brazilian Chevrolet lineup, with prices exceeding those of the standard S10 High Country and Trailblazer High Country:
- S10 Trail Boss: R$ 348,790 (approximately US$ 70,400)
- Trailblazer Midnight: R$ 422,590 (approximately US$ 85,300)
These special editions highlight Chevrolet’s commitment to catering to the unique preferences of the Brazilian market, offering a blend of rugged capability and premium features.
