Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson sparked controversy this week when he publicly apologized for his role in helping Donald Trump win two presidential elections. However, the co-hosts of The View were quick to dismiss his apology as disingenuous, suggesting it was merely a calculated move to retain his audience.

During a recent episode of The Tucker Carlson Show, Carlson acknowledged his past support for Trump, stating he would be "tormented by it for a long time" after witnessing the president’s actions during his second term. He also admitted to misleading viewers, though he claimed it was "not intentional."

The The View hosts were unconvinced. Joy Behar responded with a sarcastic, "Oh please," rolling her eyes, while Sunny Hostin dismissed the apology outright, saying, "Whatever."

Hostin went on to question Carlson’s sincerity, pointing out his past statements and actions. She recalled his 2021 text message expressing hatred for Trump, followed by his 2023 endorsement of the former president in 2024. "Now all of a sudden, 2021 you hated him, and now, all of a sudden, you want me to forgive you for this situation? No, thank you," she said.

Behar added a touch of humor, suggesting Carlson suffers from "liar’s remorse" and should compile a list of his past inaccuracies. Meanwhile, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin accused Carlson of prioritizing clicks and financial gain over integrity.

Haines stated:

"Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly will say anything they have to, any point in the day, for clicks and money, and it does not matter what they’re saying."

She further criticized Carlson’s recent interviews, including his uncritical hosting of white nationalist Nick Fuentes and his softball interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, where he failed to challenge propaganda. Haines also referenced his interview with podcaster Darryl Cooper, during which Carlson allowed claims that Nazis lacked intent in the Holocaust.

Farah Griffin agreed, saying:

"He goes where the clicks go."

A clip of the discussion was shared on The View’s official Twitter account on April 21, 2026, alongside the caption: "TUCKER CARLSON APOLOGIZES FOR ENDORSING TRUMP: 'The View' co-hosts weigh in after Carlson said on his podcast that he is 'sorry for misleading people.'"
