All that glitters is not gold — and in this case, it’s not even a phone.

Trump Mobile, a company backed by former President Donald Trump’s sons Donald Jr. and Eric, unveiled a $499 gold-colored smartphone in June 2024. The original release date was set for August 2025, with the promise of access to Trump Mobile’s 5G cellular service. Despite numerous pre-orders and $100 deposits from MAGA supporters, not a single device has shipped to date.

The delivery date has been repeatedly delayed: first from August 2025 to November 2025, then to mid-March 2025. With the latest deadline now passed, the Trump Mobile website has removed all mention of a new release date, leaving supporters in the dark.

A viral TikTok video, since deleted but widely shared, captured the frustration of a Trump supporter behind the wheel of his pickup truck. Wearing Oakleys, he shouted,

“Hey, Trump supporter here. This one goes out to Don Jr. and Eric. Where the f*ck’s my phones!? I ordered three, no four gold Trump phones in the summer!”

The uncertainty surrounding the T1 Phone’s future has led multiple outlets to highlight a critical update on the Trump Mobile website. The fine print now states that pre-ordering a device “does not guarantee that a Device will be produced or made available for purchase.”

Even if the T1 Phone eventually launches, it may not meet the “Made in America” promise that initially attracted supporters. The website originally featured slogans like “Made in the USA,” but the language has since been revised to claim the phone would be “designed with American values.” This vague phrasing does not rule out foreign manufacturing, and some observers have noted that the T1 bears a striking resemblance to Chinese smartphones.

There is a glimmer of hope for supporters: earlier in May 2025, The Verge reported that the T1 had received PTCRB certification, a requirement for any smartphone used in North America. However, whether this signals an imminent launch or another delay remains unclear.

For now, Trump Mobile appears to be yet another business venture by the Trump family that preys on loyal supporters. While the golden phones may eventually ship, the repeated delays and shifting promises have left many questioning the product’s legitimacy.
