The Cook Political Report released its latest midterms analysis this morning, and Democrats have reason to be optimistic. Across the 36 most competitive House districts, Democrats hold a six-point advantage on the generic congressional ballot—50% to 44%. The report notes that voters in these districts are deeply frustrated with former President Trump and are willing to overlook their usual antipathy toward Democrats to check his influence.

Old Man Yells ‘Rigged Election’

It has become almost routine for former President Donald Trump to claim election fraud when results do not go his way. Yesterday was no exception.

"A RIGGED ELECTION TOOK PLACE LAST NIGHT IN THE GREAT COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA!" Trump declared. "All day long Republicans were winning, the Spirit was unbelievable, until the very end when, of course, there was a massive ‘Mail In Ballot Drop!’ Where have I heard that before—and the Democrats eked out another Crooked Victory!"

This claim stands out even in the long list of Trump’s baseless fraud allegations. The entire premise rests on the idea that Virginia’s largest counties—those with the most votes to count—took the longest to finalize results. However, the race was called within just two hours of polls closing, a relatively short timeframe.

Even before the results were official, some of Trump’s allies were already setting the stage for his unfounded claims. At 7:49 p.m. on Tuesday, Laura Loomer’s show account Loomer Unleashed tweeted:

"New Virginia election results show opposition to the Democrats’ redistricting plan now leading 53% to 46%. However, Democrat-controlled Fairfax County, one of Virginia’s most populated counties, still refuses to release its election results. Sadly, a swing could be coming soon."

Despite this narrative, no credible allegations of misconduct emerged from local Republicans. The Fairfax County GOP, led by Chair Katie Gorka (wife of Trump ally Sebastian Gorka), criticized the Democrats’ victory but did not allege any fraud. When contacted for comment on Trump’s claim, Gorka did not respond. Even a visit to the party’s office in Fairfax County yielded no evidence of fraud—volunteers Bob and Nancy Hoyler confirmed they had heard nothing about such allegations.

Neither the White House nor the Republican National Committee has substantiated Trump’s claims. When asked for specifics on where fraud allegedly occurred, no clear evidence has been provided.
