Last November, Valve unveiled its vision for living room gaming with two key products: the Steam Machine and the Steam Controller. However, the company faced significant setbacks due to RAMageddon—a memory shortage crisis that forced Valve to delay all hardware releases and reset consumer expectations.

Now, Valve is pivoting its strategy by releasing the Steam Controller as a standalone product, without the accompanying Steam Machine.

The Steam Controller will officially go on sale on May 4th at the following prices:

  • $99 USD
  • $149 CAD
  • $149 AUD
  • £85 in the UK
  • €99 in the EU

Valve has already conducted hands-on testing with the controller, pairing it with both Steam Decks and gaming desktops. Reviews from journalists Jay Peters and Cameron Faulkner are available for further insights.
