With the 22nd overall pick, the Los Angeles Chargers—represented by Michael Peterson of Bolts From The Blue—selected Chase Bisontis, an offensive guard from Texas A&M.

Why the Chargers Chose Bisontis

While most draft boards suggest Bisontis may be a slight reach at this spot, Peterson acknowledged the sentiment but emphasized the necessity of the pick given the draft board’s progression. With no viable trade-back options, the Chargers faced a critical decision to avoid losing key offensive line talent to a potential guard run.

"With no takers on a trade back, I couldn’t risk there being a run on offensive guards between 22 and 55. Bisontis, Keylan Rutledge, and Emmanuel Pregnon could all be gone by the time the Bolts are back on the clock and that would simply be too devastating of an outcome."

Peterson highlighted Bisontis’ projected immediate impact as a rookie, justifying the selection despite the perceived reach. The move ensures the Chargers secure a foundational piece for their offensive line before the market tightens.
