Apple and Intel have reportedly reached a preliminary agreement for Intel to produce chips for Apple hardware, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal published on Friday.

This potential collaboration follows Apple’s highly successful transition from Intel-powered computers to its proprietary Apple Silicon chips, which have powered its Mac lineup since 2020.

The renewed partnership comes at a time of significant changes for Intel. In March 2025, the company appointed Lip-Bu Tan as its new CEO. Additionally, in August 2025, the US government acquired a 10 percent stake in Intel.

While the specifics of which Apple products will utilize Intel-made chips remain unclear, the report suggests that the two companies will collaborate closely moving forward.

Both Apple and Intel have not yet responded to requests for comment from The Verge.

This development follows earlier reports from Bloomberg, which also indicated a potential resurgence in the Apple-Intel relationship.
