The Miami Dolphins made their first move of the 2024 NFL Draft before selecting their first player. General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan executed a trade with the Dallas Cowboys, allowing Miami to draft former Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor with the 12th overall pick on Thursday night.
In exchange for moving down one spot, the Dolphins acquired the Cowboys' 177th and 180th picks, expanding their draft-day arsenal. Miami now holds 12 additional selections, including the No. 30 pick obtained from the Denver Broncos in a prior trade involving wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. This added draft capital provides the Dolphins flexibility to pursue coveted players later in the round.
Proctor brings experience to the Dolphins' offensive line, having started at left tackle for the Alabama Crimson Tide over the past three seasons. His collegiate accolades include being named a second-team All-American in 2025. While Proctor is expected to compete for a tackle spot in Miami, some analysts suggest he could transition to guard in the NFL. The Dolphins currently have Patrick Paul and Austin Jackson slated to return at tackle.
