Don Lemon announced on Sunday that his independent media company, Lemon Media Network (LMN), is expanding its newsroom and operations teams. According to an official release, LMN has amassed over 10 million subscribers across platforms including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Substack, Facebook, Twitch, Threads, and Bluesky. Notably, half of this growth occurred within the last year.

Lemon Media Network’s Growth and Mission

“Two years ago, people told me independent media was a step down,” Lemon stated in a release. “Ten million followers later, I think we’ve answered that.” He emphasized the network’s commitment to authenticity and direct communication, contrasting it with legacy media’s focus on “false equivalence, outrage, and endless food fights.”

“There’s a real freedom in what we’re doing here. No corporate boss, no fear of losing the job for telling the truth. We answer to the audience, not the elite, the oligarchs, or the Oval Office. That’s what freedom of the press is supposed to mean. The networks have the resources. We have the relevance. They should be asking themselves why.”

Lemon also announced the launch of a daily newsletter on Substack, titled The Lemon Lucky 7, featuring seven stories from him every morning.

New Leadership Additions

The expansion includes two key hires:

  • Douglas Robins, a McKinsey alum, will join as Director of Operations. Previously, he served as a policy advisor for the Louisiana Governor’s office.
  • Daniel Grimes, formerly with Spectrum News, will join the team in an unspecified role.

Recent Legal Challenges and Commitment to Press Freedom

This announcement follows Lemon’s arrest in April 2026 on federal civil rights charges related to his coverage of a protest in St. Paul, Minnesota. The charges included conspiracy to deprive rights and violating the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, which protects individuals’ First Amendment right to religious freedom.

Addressing reporters at the time, Lemon said:

“Thank you, thank you. I wanted to say this isn’t just about me; it’s about all journalists, especially here in the United States. For more than 30 years, I’ve been a journalist, and the power and protection of the First Amendment has been the underpinning of my work—the First Amendment, the freedom of the press, the bedrock of our democracy.”

He added:

“The process is the punishment with them. I will not be intimidated. I will not back down. I will fight these baseless charges, and I will not be silenced.”

The news of LMN’s expansion and Lemon’s unwavering stance on press freedom comes as the network continues to challenge traditional media narratives.
