Dreame, a Chinese manufacturer primarily recognized for its robot vacuums but with broader technological ambitions, has introduced its first smartphones. The company showcased two new devices at its Next event in California this week, though both models were previously revealed in China in March 2024.

Neither the Aurora Nex LS1 nor the Aurora Lux has officially launched in any market—including China, the U.S., or elsewhere. Dreame has disclosed only limited specifications for the devices.

Aurora Nex LS1: A Modular Smartphone Concept

The Aurora Nex LS1 stands out as the more innovative—and arguably more ambitious—of the two models. Its defining feature is a magnetic attachment point on the rear, where the camera module can be swapped out. This modular design suggests potential for customization, though details on compatibility and available modules remain scarce.

Aurora Lux: 29 Design Variations

The Aurora Lux offers a different approach, emphasizing aesthetics with 29 distinct design variants. The company has highlighted premium materials and customizable back panels, positioning the device as a lifestyle-oriented smartphone. However, like the Nex LS1, it has not yet reached commercial release.

Dreame’s expansion into smartphones marks a significant diversification from its core robot vacuum business, reflecting its ambition to compete in the broader consumer electronics market.
