Honda is reporting a significant rebound in sedan sales, even as most of its SUV lineup faces declining deliveries. The Honda Accord saw a remarkable 42% increase in April 2025 compared to the same month last year, while the Honda Civic posted a 6% rise over the same period.

This surge is not an isolated incident. The Accord has shown consistent growth throughout the year, with a 23% increase in February and a 13% rise in March. In April alone, Honda sold 16,071 Accords, which is 4,794 units more than in April 2024. Year-to-date, Accord deliveries are up 27%, a strong indicator for a segment that has long struggled to gain traction. The Accord Hybrid also saw a 27% improvement in sales.

The Civic’s growth has been more modest, with a 0.1% increase in the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. However, even this small gain is noteworthy given the broader challenges facing Honda’s lineup. Notably, only one of the brand’s utility vehicles recorded a positive April: the Honda CR-V, which saw a 3% bump in sales.

Elsewhere, Honda’s SUV sales have declined. Excluding the Honda Prologue, which dropped 18.4% and may soon be discontinued, the Honda Ridgeline fell 15.7%, and the Honda Odyssey dropped 23%.

Is This the Start of a Sedan Resurgence?

Across the industry, the trend is not isolated to Honda. The Toyota Camry also saw an 18% jump in April 2025 compared to the previous year. Industry observers suggest that some buyers who might have considered the Toyota Prius are now opting for the Camry instead.

While some analysts caution that a potential drop in gas prices could reverse this trend, the current data suggests a possible shift in consumer preferences back toward sedans. Only time will tell whether this is a lasting change or a temporary blip.
