In the days leading up to the Season 4 premiere of From, star Harold Perrineau shared insights with Den of Geek about the show’s latest twists and the future of the cult horror series. “I thought the whole idea was brilliant,” Perrineau said. “You’d never expect that.”

He was referring to The Man in the Yellow Suit’s latest sinister maneuver in the beleaguered Township. After Season 3’s climax, where he warned Jim (Eion Bailey) and Julie (Hannah Cheramy) that “knowledge comes with a cost” before killing Jim, fans might have hoped for a reprieve. Instead, Season 4 picks up immediately where it left off, with The Man in the Yellow Suit dismissing the townspeople as “fragile things.” He engages in a chilling conversation with the dying Jim, admitting, “I always liked you. It’s a shame you won’t get to see what’s about to happen. That’s my favorite part.”

Season 4 Premiere: A New Arrival and a Shocking Revelation

The ominous tone continues as The Man in the Yellow Suit digs up a suitcase with a grin of anticipation. Suddenly, a car crashes into the Sheriff’s Station, prompting Boyd Stevens (Perrineau) and his friends to rush to the scene. They rescue an unconscious pastor and his injured passenger, a sheltered girl named Sofia (Julia Doyle). Sofia worries about her father’s condition, but when she wakes him, a jaw-dropping truth emerges: Sofia isn’t the pastor’s daughter—she’s The Man in the Yellow Suit in disguise.

Perrineau praised Julia Doyle’s performance, saying, “Julia is so good as Sofia. She’s got just the right amount of totally sweet, but a little crazy in her eyes. She’s just perfect for [the role].”

The Man in the Yellow Suit’s Plan and the Show’s Future

With The Man in the Yellow Suit now infiltrating the Township and hinting that its residents are about to “tear themselves apart,” many assumed From was nearing its conclusion. Perrineau revealed that the creative team had different time scales in mind for wrapping up the show but always knew how it would end. “When I first got the job, they mentioned that it was best as a five-season show, but they could end it in four, or go to six,” he explained. “I know that they have a specific ending, and we haven’t gotten there just yet.”

Hours after Perrineau’s interview, MGM+ confirmed that From had been renewed for a fifth and final season. Despite the challenges his character Boyd has faced—including a dogged need to save everyone in the cursed town—Perrineau admitted he’s still enjoying the role. “He has a dogged need to finish his task, and his task is to save everybody. He’s a man of service, so that is what he’s going to do.”
