In a celebration of Hacks Season 5, the real-life fan club of Jean Smart’s character, Deborah Vance, has taken action to honor her legacy by cleaning up a stretch of highway between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
From now until April 8, 2027, a portion of I-15 near San Bernardino will be officially designated as the Deborah Vance Highway. The initiative includes billboards with the tagline, "Divas don’t litter," to promote anti-littering efforts.
Ahead of the season premiere, a group of superfans gathered in pink safety vests and leopard-print hard hats to participate in a trash pickup event, embodying the spirit of Deborah Vance’s character.
"I hope it will go down in television history as a really, really, really smart, really funny show. And also, one of the most unusual female friendships in film or television. I’m really proud of that."— Jean Smart, speaking to TheWrap at the season premiere event.
The celebration continued the following day with a Sin City-themed fan screening at the El Rey in Hollywood. The event featured casino card games and a wedding chapel, paying homage to the show’s use of Las Vegas and Los Angeles as its primary settings.
Hacks Season 5 premieres Thursdays on HBO Max.
