Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) has revealed new performance parts for the Honda Civic Type R, including a rear wing, front splitter, and a lightweight Akrapovic exhaust. These components are being developed using HRC’s Japanese motorsport expertise.

The Honda Civic Type R is widely regarded as one of the top front-wheel-drive hot hatches available. Now, Honda is preparing to enhance its appeal with parts derived from last year’s HRC concept, set for release later in 2025.

Last January, Honda introduced the Civic Type R HRC concept at the Tokyo Auto Show. The concept featured a revised front fascia, new wheel arches, distinctive side skirts, an upgraded rear wing, and a new rear diffuser, along with the Akrapovic exhaust. At the time, Honda did not confirm future plans for the model.

However, during the recent Honda All Type R World Meeting at the Motegi circuit, HRC boss Koji Watanabe announced that the car is coming. When questioned by Car Watch about the release timeline, Watanabe stated that the technologies used are refined through racing in the Super Endurance and Super GT categories, suggesting availability is just a few months away.

Performance Parts for Global Markets

Watanabe clarified that the Civic Type R will not be sold as a flagship HRC model. Instead, the performance parts will be available individually for customers to purchase separately. Notably, these parts will not be limited to Japan; Watanabe confirmed they are also being developed for the United States. He expressed hope that the parts will be delivered as soon as possible.

Honda’s Push for Performance Parts

Honda has been actively expanding its performance parts lineup. In late 2024, the company launched a dedicated performance parts division, initially showcasing aerodynamic upgrades for the Acura Integra Type S. Honda emphasized that all parts must comply with safety regulations before being offered to customers, a process that can take time. However, approval for the Civic Type R’s new parts appears imminent.
