Quagmire Powder is one of the more advanced materials in Windrose, serving a critical role in crafting. However, accessing the biome where it can be obtained requires progression through the game’s early regions.
Once unlocked, Quagmire Powder can be used to smelt Mire Metal Ingots, a key resource for endgame weapon and ship upgrades.
How to Get Quagmire Powder in Windrose
The first step is unlocking the Cursed Swamps biome. Depending on your progress in early access, this region may not yet be accessible. In most cases, it becomes available after the Foothills region, making it the third major biome to explore.
Within the swamps, you’ll encounter Plague Thralls, a common enemy found in forests or along coastlines. These creatures are slow-moving, two-block tall enemies that rely on melee attacks. While not overly challenging, they require sufficient player progression to defeat reliably.
Upon killing a Plague Thrall and looting its remains, you will receive Quagmire Powder. Additionally, these enemies drop Bone Beads as a secondary material. Notably, Quagmire Powder appears to be a guaranteed drop—every Plague Thrall defeated in testing yielded this resource.

Quagmire Powder is essential for smelting Mire Metal Ingots. Each ingot requires:

- 2x Ancient Scraps
Mire Metal Ingots are vital for late-game upgrades, including weapons and ships. Given their importance, players are encouraged to farm Quagmire Powder whenever exploring the Cursed Swamps.
