HWA has introduced the EVO R, a new track-only tribute to the iconic 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E Evo II, marking a significant evolution in the brand’s racing heritage. Designed for customers seeking high-performance track experiences, the EVO R shares its "core architecture" with the HWA EVO.R race car, which will compete in this weekend’s 24 Hours of Nürburgring.

Limited Production and High-Performance Specifications

Only 15 units of the EVO R will be produced, each powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine generating 552 hp (412 kW / 560 PS) and 494 lb-ft (670 Nm) of torque. This represents a substantial upgrade over the road-going model’s 493 hp and 405 lb-ft (549 Nm) with the optional Affalterbach package. The engine is mated to a six-speed sequential transmission, ensuring precise power delivery.

Design and Customization Options

The EVO R features an aggressive carbon fiber widebody kit, including extended wheel arches, a revised hood, and NACA ducts for enhanced aerodynamics. Additional highlights include:

  • Polycarbonate windows for weight savings
  • Removable rear doors for easier access
  • Lightweight racing wheels from Ronal
  • Racing exhaust system and integrated air jack system

The interior is designed for performance, with a carbon fiber racing seat optimized for a wide range of drivers, a racing steering wheel, carbon fiber trim, and large switchgear. Safety is prioritized with an FIA-homologated roll cage and fuel cell.

Consumer-Friendly Features

While the EVO R is built for the track, HWA has included a few concessions for customer comfort and practicality:

  • Optional air conditioning system
  • Front passenger seat for added convenience
  • 24-hour lighting package for extended track sessions
  • Drink system for hydration during long drives

Chassis, Suspension, and Handling

The EVO R is built on a reinforced monocoque chassis and features a six-way adjustable racing suspension, developed in collaboration with KW and H R. Braking is handled by AP Racing competition brakes, ensuring reliable stopping power. Despite its track-focused nature, HWA emphasizes that the EVO R has been "developed with ease of handling and operation in mind, making it accessible to drivers of all experience levels."

Ownership and Pricing

Production of the EVO R is limited to 15 units, with each car built to order. Buyers will receive comprehensive support through HWA’s turn-key ownership program, which includes:

  • Access to expert technicians
  • Dedicated parts service
  • Invitations to exclusive events throughout ownership

While HWA has not yet announced pricing for the Race Edition, the regular EVO model starts at approximately €714,000, or roughly $830,000 at current exchange rates.
