If your Instagram posts appeared in black and white recently, don’t panic—it wasn’t a problem with your camera or account. The issue was caused by a bug affecting HDR photos on the Meta-owned platform.
"Earlier today, a technical issue caused some HDR photos to appear incorrectly as black-and-white for a subset of accounts."
The bug was first reported by users on April 18 and 19, though it may have started earlier for some. Instagram confirmed the issue to Engadget and stated that it has since been fixed.
If your posts are still showing in black and white, Instagram assured users that the fix will automatically restore affected photos to their original colors over the next few hours.
"We apologize for any inconvenience."
