Dr. Jill Biden, the former First Lady of the United States, will not be featured in the upcoming season of Heated Rivalry, a popular hockey romance series. The news comes as a disappointment to fans who anticipated her appearance after she bid $35,000 for a walk-on role.
According to Gothamist, Dr. Biden’s bid was outmatched by two other individuals, each of whom donated $125,000 to secure the coveted spot. The series, known for its dramatic on-ice romances, has drawn significant attention, including from high-profile figures.
Though Dr. Biden did not win the role, her efforts contributed to a major fundraising success. She made a surprise appearance at the NYC LGBT Center’s annual gala, the organization’s flagship event, which supports HIV prevention, youth programs, and mental health initiatives. Carla Smith, CEO of the NYC LGBT Center, confirmed to Gothamist that the gala raised over $2 million—one of the highest amounts in the organization’s history.
The event’s success was partly attributed to the appeal of Heated Rivalry-related auction items, which were among the most sought-after prizes. While Dr. Biden missed her chance to skate alongside series stars Ilya and Shane, her presence at the gala ensured a memorable evening for attendees.
