Jimmy Kimmel opened his Monday monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live! by mocking former President Donald Trump’s recent social media posts, including a controversial joke about America potentially getting stuck with a “moron” for president.
“I’ve heard of it happening twice,”
Kimmel remarked, referencing Trump’s jab at the hypothetical scenario. The comedian then recapped a single hour from Trump’s Truth Social feed on the previous Friday night, dissecting multiple posts.
At 11:13 p.m., Trump posted a thinly veiled but racist remark about House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. Two minutes later, he issued a warning to Iran, claiming, “I have all the cards,” while holding a stack of UNO cards—a game typically won by having no cards left.
“See what happens when you don’t play with your children?” Kimmel quipped.
Trump’s Social Media Activity Under Scrutiny
Kimmel also highlighted Trump’s increased social media activity, noting that the former president has been posting nearly 20 times per day recently. “Last month, he posted an average of 18 times a day,” Kimmel said, adding, “If you had a relative who was posting 18 times a day, you’d be worried about him, right? You’d be like, ‘What’s going on with cousin Matthew? Is he OK?’”
Trump’s Cognitive Exam Boasts and Self-Awareness
Kimmel then shifted to Trump’s repeated claims about acing a cognitive exam, which the former president has used to assert his mental fitness. During a recent event, Trump argued that all presidential nominees should be required to take such an exam, stating that without it, “He gets in, he’s got a good line of crap, and all of a sudden, you’re stuck with a man who’s a moron.”
“I’ve heard of it happening twice,”
Kimmel joked. “I think it’s his self-awareness that I admire most.”
Rudy Giuliani’s Hospitalization and Kimmel’s Response
Elsewhere in the monologue, Kimmel addressed the hospitalization of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who is in critical condition due to pneumonia. “I read this, I really thought, ‘I wonder if they’ll try to blame this on me?’” Kimmel said.
He then played a clip from a Newsmax panel discussing his previous joke about Giuliani being a vampire, in which a panelist accused Kimmel of abusing comedy. Kimmel responded by appearing under a giant tarp, joking, “She’s right. In fact, I’m under the gauze of comedy right now. The gauze, it gives me psychic abilities.”
“This is how I work. Every day in the morning, I wake up, I make coffee and then I look into the future to see which events have yet to occur, and then we write jokes—but we write jokes that we know are going to make trouble,” he added.
Kimmel concluded the segment by saying, “For the record, I hope Rudy Giuliani lives another 100 years. He earned that outside the dildo shop. That was the funniest thing any person has done this century.”
