Kimera Automobili has officially unveiled its latest masterpiece, the K39, on the shores of Lake Como. More than two years after the first teaser, the full production-ready versions of the car—both road-legal and Pikes Peak race-spec—were revealed to the public.
The K39 continues the Lancia 037 rally heritage that defined Kimera’s previous models, the EVO37 and EVO38, while pushing performance boundaries to new heights.
Powertrain: A 1,000 HP Koenigsegg Twin-Turbo V8
At the heart of the K39 is a bespoke twin-turbocharged V8 engine sourced from Koenigsegg. Unlike the 2.1-liter four-cylinder setup with both turbocharger and supercharger found in the EVO37 and EVO38, the K39’s powertrain delivers:
- 1,000 horsepower at 7,350 rpm
- 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque at 5,500 rpm
- 8,250 rpm redline, matching Koenigsegg’s signature high-revving character
The turbos are optimized for improved throttle response, ensuring the engine remains responsive despite its massive power output.
Design Evolution: Modern Supercar Aesthetics
The K39 retains the spirit of the Lancia 037 and Kimera’s EVO series but introduces significant design updates. The road-legal version features:
- New headlights for a more modern front fascia
- Widened rear track for improved stability
- Large air intakes on the sides to manage the new V8’s cooling demands
- Distinctive engine cover, rear diffuser, and rear wing for a supercar silhouette
Pikes Peak Race Version: Martini Racing Livery and Extreme Aero
The Pikes Peak-spec K39 takes the design to another level with aggressive aerodynamic enhancements:
- Massive front splitter for downforce
- Side skirts for improved airflow
- Bespoke wing mirrors and roof scoop
- Gigantic rear wing and diffuser for maximum downforce
- Full Martini Racing livery, paying homage to classic rally racing aesthetics
Production and Pricing: Ultra-Limited and Exclusive
Kimera has confirmed that production of the K39 will be extremely limited. While the exact number of units to be built has not been disclosed, the company has already allocated more than 20 cars to buyers. The first ten units will feature a special Pikes Peak-inspired race car package with a bespoke aerodynamic setup.
Pricing details have not been announced, but as Kimera states, "if you have to ask, then you can’t afford it."
