I’m punch drunk in my third week attending Musk v. Altman, but I’ve grown oddly fond of Microsoft during the trial. They don’t want to be here any more than I do.

Their opening statement was one of the most Microsoft things I’ve ever seen. More than anything else, it read like a Microsoft advertisement, detailing their products at length. The subtext was clear: this trial is absurd, their involvement is absurd, but the jury might still enjoy an Xbox game.

High drama has unfolded on the stand—from Musk, his associates, and others—but Microsoft’s presence feels like an unwanted guest at a party they never RSVP’d to.
