The 2026 FIFA World Cup, kicking off on June 11, will see fans face steep public transport costs in some host cities. In Massachusetts, train and bus fares from Boston have tripled, with round-trip tickets to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey priced at $150 from Manhattan.

Scotland’s first match is scheduled for June 14 in Foxborough, Massachusetts, approximately 50 miles (80 km) from Boston. Fans staying in the city face $80 train tickets and $90 bus fares—nearly triple the usual cost.

To avoid these high fees, hundreds of Scottish supporters chartered 20 school buses from Providence, Rhode Island, cutting transport costs to just $38 per person. The group also secured police escorts to ensure safe travel to the game.

Meanwhile, the June 27 match between England and Panama at MetLife Stadium will see NJ Transit charge $150 for round-trip tickets, up from the usual $12.60.

Not all host cities have raised prices. In California, fares to SoFi Stadium remain $1.75, while Dallas’ Trinity Railway Express keeps its $6 return fare. Atlanta’s one-way tickets to Mercedes-Benz Stadium cost just $2.50.
