テネシー州マクナイリー郡の特別支援学校、セルマー小学校で、非言語の9歳児童に対する暴行容疑で、特別支援教師メグ・デイさん（34歳）が逮捕された。
目撃者によると、デイさんは授業中に児童を下半身をつかんでカーペット上で引きずり、背中に「血のように赤い跡」とカーペット焼けを負わせたという。同校の他の職員が児童の負傷に気づき、校長と副校長に報告。その後、警察が介入し、デイさんは暴行容疑で逮捕された。
児童の保護者は、この出来事について学校側からの説明を求めている。学校関係者は「事実関係を調査中」とコメントしている。
