Infowars founder Alex Jones has reignited his history of conspiracy theories, this time targeting comedian Tim Heidecker with unsubstantiated and explosive claims.

On Friday, Jones took to X (formerly Twitter) to allege that The Onion, the satirical newspaper, had hired Heidecker as its new creative director despite his involvement in what Jones described as "pro pedo/child kidnapping, torture and murder programs."

"The Onion newspaper has been rocked by the discovery that their new creative director, produced pro pedo/child kidnapping, torture and murder programs," Jones wrote.

Jones accompanied his post with what he claimed was a mugshot of Heidecker, though the image was later revealed to be a fake. The photo originated from a 2017 Adult Swim courtroom series in which Heidecker portrayed a defendant on trial for 20 counts of a fictional crime.

This latest conspiracy theory from Jones arrives at a precarious moment for his media empire. Infowars, the platform Jones has used for decades to disseminate conspiracy theories, may soon be transferred to The Onion as part of a legal settlement. The satirical publication has no affiliation with the claims made by Jones.

The unverified allegations against Heidecker have drawn widespread criticism, with many dismissing them as another example of Jones' pattern of spreading misinformation. Heidecker has not publicly responded to the claims as of the time of reporting.
