BMW has transformed an XM crossover into a mobile DJ booth, complete with a DJ stand mounted on top. Created by apprentices from BMW’s Dingolfing plant, the one-off model features a chrome wrap, special graphics denoting it as “The Ultimate Sound Machine,” and a roof-mounted platform for artists.

The vehicle includes four structural pillars supporting a canopy and a double-sided LED screen measuring over 64 square feet (6 square meters). It also features fixed and moving stage lights, four speakers, and four subwoofers from dBTechnologies. The setup includes a Pioneer DJ system with a DJM V10 mixer and two CDJ 3000X players, along with four fog machines integrated into the wheel arches.

BMW confirmed the crossover is fully functional and has a TÜV-approved top speed of 9.3 mph (15 km/h). The superstructure weighs approximately 3,086 lbs (1,400 kg), bringing the overall weight to roughly 6,173 lbs (2,800 kg).

Power and Performance

The XM Label Soundmachine is powered by a high-performance plug-in hybrid system, featuring a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine, a 19.2 kWh battery pack, and an electric motor integrated into an eight-speed automatic transmission. This setup delivers a combined output of 738 hp (550 kW / 748 PS) and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque.

The plug-in hybrid system also allows the sound system, screen, and lights to operate for up to an hour without external power.

Debut and Future Appearances

The XM Label Soundmachine made its debut at the Electric Mountain Festival in Sölden last month and recently appeared at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. It is scheduled to make an appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this summer.
