The Chicago Sky have officially waived Hailey Van Lith, the team announced on Monday. Van Lith, selected with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, did not see significant playing time during her rookie season but appeared in 29 games, averaging 3.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists.

This past winter, she played as a developmental player for Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 professional women’s basketball league in Miami co-founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.

Van Lith’s preseason performance suggested a breakthrough. In two preseason games, she averaged 12.5 points and 4.5 assists while shooting 71.4% from the field. In the opener, she scored 20 points on a perfect 8-for-8 field goal shooting.

The Sky’s roster includes several veteran guards, such as Skylar Diggins, a seven-time All-Star coming off a strong season with the Seattle Storm. Courtney Vandersloot remains sidelined due to an ACL tear, as does DiJonai Carrington, who is recovering from a foot injury.

Jacy Sheldon, acquired via trade this offseason, and Gabriela Jaquez, the fifth overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, round out the roster. Despite Van Lith’s strong preseason, the team has decided to move forward without her for the final roster.
