When you think of sustainable fashion, recycled polyester or organic cotton might come to mind. But the most sustainable piece in your wardrobe is likely the little black dress you’ve worn for 15 years or the Levi’s 501s you’ve had since college. The real challenge for the fashion industry? Designing clothes that people will love—and keep—for decades.

Sarah Bonello, founder of The Park, has spent her career in fashion PR, studying what the market lacks. She launched her label to create timeless basics—T-shirts, dresses, and trousers—that fit beautifully and feel effortless to wear. Her approach is simple: prioritize fabric quality over trends.

Why Fabric Matters More Than Trends

Bonello’s philosophy stems from her own wardrobe. “I’ve had pieces for 20 years that I never want to get rid of,” she says. “They’re evergreen—they make you feel beautiful, no matter your age or size.”

To reverse-engineer her favorite garments, she spent 18 months developing The Park’s first collection, which launched 18 months ago. The line includes tightly edited essentials like T-shirts, trousers, and dresses. The response was immediate: retailers like Moda Operandi and Net-a-Porter sold out repeatedly, and Nordstrom recently added the brand to its roster.

Expanding the Line with Sustainable Innovation

Now, Bonello is expanding The Park’s offerings, introducing new materials like velvet and sheer fabrics while keeping the collection deliberately small. Sustainability is woven into every piece, using fabrics with minimal environmental impact—such as fibers from responsibly managed forests and nylon made from fashion waste.

But Bonello doesn’t rely on eco-credentials to sell clothes. “Most consumers don’t buy clothing because of its environmental benefits,” she says. “They buy it because they love it—and will wear it forever.” Her goal is to make sustainability effortless by creating garments that feel as good as they look.

The Secret to The Park’s Fabric: Power 3

To achieve this, Bonello sought out exceptional fabrics. After extensive research, she partnered with Pyratex, a Spanish textile innovator, and discovered Power 3, a fabric made from a blend of micro-Tencel and recycled elastane.

  • Sourced from sustainably managed forests
  • Certified by OEKO-TEX (toxic-free testing) and the Forest Stewardship Council
  • Offers gentle compression for a “hugged” feel
  • Soft, drapes beautifully, and features moisture-wicking and antibacterial properties

What sold Bonello on Power 3 wasn’t just its certifications—it was the fabric’s luxurious feel. “It’s the kind of material that makes you want to wear it every day,” she says. “That’s the future of fashion: clothes you never want to take off.”
